WELCOME TO MOTIDE

Our journey started back in 2016. MOTIDE was born from our shared passion for high-quality craftsmanship, simple design and love for the natural environment. Our products represent our values of quality, simplicity and sustainability.

QUALITY CRAFTSMANSHIP, BUILT FOR LIFE.

Traditional craftsmanship skills are the backbone to all of our creations. Our designs are carefully crafted using traditional techniques, where construction details are expressed and celebrated. Quality manufacture and sustainability work hand-in-hand together, and by building products to last is our testament to a sustainable future.

GUIDED BY NATURE

Our designs celebrate the textures and tones of nature, and the use of natural materials is fundamental to the design process. As a result, our products are timeless pieces that stand up to the knocks and bangs in life, and therefore, age gracefully.

SUSTAINABILITY & OUR RESPONSIBILITY

We all have an impact in this world, and we certainly feel the responsibility of MOTIDE’s footprint. By carefully selecting sustainably sourced materials and reusing reclaimed timber, we are trying to work with, and support nature today and in the future.

Our timber selection is FSC certified and free of harmful chemicals.

CELEBRATING THE HUMBLE HOME

We love celebrating home life, and that includes the calm and the disorder that go with it. Furniture has an important place in the home. The dining table is a special connection point of your home, bringing family and friends together. Furniture help our lives function and can hold treasures that have been collected over the years.

We carefully design and select materials that work with our individual and unique lifestyles, and ultimately improve our wellbeing.

CHRISTINA

Right from the beginning I’ve been connected with the magic of the natural world. I grew up in a small village in northern Germany and my childhood was simple, explorative and curious. I would often come home and with a collection of treasures I had found and spend the rest of my day arranging and showcasing the beauty of nature.

I had an innate desire to arrange beautiful things, to create spaces that were a joy to be in. My passion for colours, art, interiors and design lead me to study Architecture at the Muthesius University of Fine Arts and Design. Years later I found myself working within large scale commercial projects, with huge budgets, and large teams.

But funnily enough, I’ve come full circle back to the curiosity and wonder of my childhood days, with a desire to create warm, happy Homelife, using materials that celebrate nature and life itself.

SASCHA

I feel strongly connected to nature. I was raised to appreciate the beauty and abundance all around me. I think that’s why my family was also creative; because our creativity was a way of experiencing the natural world and expressing it through our own lens.

There is a simplicity that is so beautiful when you choose to work with wood. The tactile nature of this living product, with it’s own characteristics, drives me to respect it deeply, taking care and time to craft a piece of timber into a piece of valued furniture.

I must admit, I’m bit of a perfectionist when it comes to cabinet making. Having studied to be an architectural technician, there is a mathematical precision side to the way I like to work. But nature always guides me, I can easily get lost in the world of the timber and the tactility of the experience. My passion is to always showcase the beauty of the natural material, whether it’s in a precisely crafted connection detail or taking the time to present the beauty of the timber’s grain.

Lastly, I’m a passionate cook. This is why I understand the importance of a functioning kitchen space and beautiful dining table, because a good kitchen allows me to focus on what I love to do and brings me closer to the people I love.
